Thomas Sidney Cooper Picture ‘Separated but not Divorced’

Oil on canvas painting “Separated, but not Divorced” by Thomas Sidney Cooper. Painted between 1874 and 1882 it shows a large bull with cows in the distance.

About

Born in Canterbury, Cooper had a national reputation as one of the foremost painters in Victorian England. He rose from humble beginnings to become a benefactor of the city and living until he was 99 had a prodigious output of paintings. The museum collection contains numerous examples of his drawings and oils including this huge picture of a bull.
