Angolan Model Village

This model of a Kwanyama homestead was built in Angola by Diana and Antoinette Powell-Cotton, with help from local residents Hamjungo and Datila. The model is based on Hamjungo and Datila’s own homestead and the pair became friends with the Powell-Cotton sisters.

About

Built by the headman of the homestead the model is based on in collaboration with Diana and Antoinette Powell-Cotton. Diana and Antoinette Powell-Cotton travelled through Angola in 1936 and 1937 and frequently stayed with Kwanyama people, who form one of the largest language groups in Angola.
